I found this nice and simple little LED project for your jack o’ lantern over at the Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories blog.

There design uses a darkness detecting LED circuit to automatically light up the eyes at night

I think this is just the sort of weekend project I’ve been looking for.  I might try an modify it with a solar panel and some rechargeable battery pack just to add a little more to the design.

Economics and the  Death of Reality.  I feel like I’ve become a lot smarter about our country’s economic systems in the last few weeks.  Be sure to read Rick’s comments as well.

If you haven’t heard it yet be sure to check out the two amazing This American Life shows about the economy.  I had to listen to them several times to really get all the information.  The first show The Giant Pool of Money aired back in May. Then just last week was the amazing show Another Frightening Show About the Economy.

I think it may be time to create some visualizations of all this complexity.

I heart my new cup

This is my new favorite travel mug. It’s a double wall ceramic cup with a silicone lid. Most important of all it’s dishwasher and microwave safe. I’ve always liked the New York coffee mug that Graham made, surgeon but I really always wanted a lid.
